§ 01Agreement to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Rayyan Anwar, the developer of Banked. ("we", "us"). By downloading, pairing, or using Banked. for iPhone and iPad, you agree to them. If you don't agree, delete the app.

Banked. was previously published as Earned.. The name changed; the app, the developer, and your existing pairing did not.

Banked. is distributed through the App Store, so Apple's Media Services Terms apply alongside these terms. Where the two conflict on anything to do with purchase, billing, or refunds, Apple's terms win.

§ 02Who can use Banked.

Banked. is designed for two people using two devices: a parent or guardian, and a child whose screen time is being managed.

• The parent must be at least 18 and must be the legal parent or guardian of the child, or have that person's permission.
• Only the parent sets up the app, buys the subscription, chooses which apps are restricted, and decides how much activity is worth how many minutes.
• The child does not create an account, does not agree to anything, and cannot change any rule from their device. Their side of the app shows a balance, a history, and what they need to do next.

§ 03How Banked. works

The loop is short on purpose:

• The parent picks a set of apps and categories to restrict, and sets tiers — how many minutes a given amount of activity is worth.
• The child completes the activity. Banked. adds the earned minutes to their balance.
• The child opens a session for a length they choose. Those minutes leave the balance when it starts, the restricted apps unlock for exactly that long, and ending it early puts the whole minutes still on the clock back.
• The parent can also approve reading time, chores, or one-off grants from the parent device. Approvals are a parent action; requesting one is the only thing the child device can send.

We may add, change, or retire features. If a change removes something you're paying for, you can cancel — see § 05.

§ 04Pairing two devices

Pairing links a parent device to a child device using a pairing code. The code is a random token; it isn't derived from a name, email, phone number, or Apple ID. The two devices exchange balances and approvals through iCloud, described in the Privacy Policy.

Anyone holding a valid pairing code can pair to that family's data, so treat it like a password: share it only with the device you're setting up. A parent can unpair from the parent device at any time, which stops that child device from syncing further.

Sync needs both devices to be signed into iCloud and online. If one device is offline, it will show the last state it received, and catch up when it reconnects.

§ 05Subscriptions and billing

Setup and pairing are free. Ongoing restriction and earning features require a subscription, purchased on the parent device.

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Prices are in US dollars and may differ by storefront.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
• Manage or cancel in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. We cannot cancel a subscription for you.
• Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• If a subscription lapses, restrictions and earning stop applying. Balances and settings stay on the device, and resume where they left off if you resubscribe.

We may change prices. Existing subscribers are notified through the App Store before a price change takes effect, and can cancel before it does.

§ 06Screen Time permissions

Banked. is built on Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks. To restrict apps, both devices must grant Screen Time permission, and the child device must be part of your Family Sharing group or have permission granted directly on it.

You are responsible for having the authority to manage the device you're restricting. Do not use Banked. on a device belonging to an adult who has not agreed to it, or on a device you don't have the right to manage.

Revoking Screen Time permission, signing out of iCloud, deleting the app, or erasing the device will stop restrictions from being enforced, immediately and completely. Apple controls those switches, and so can anyone with the device passcode.

§ 07Timing and accuracy

Banked. works within limits set by iOS. Some of these are not bugs and cannot be engineered away, so it's worth knowing them before you rely on the app:

• Usage is reported with a delay. iOS notifies apps about screen time thresholds on its own schedule, so a balance may run a few minutes past zero before a restriction applies.
• Short blocked windows are unreliable. Scheduled windows shorter than 15 minutes are ignored by the system.
• Deleting the app removes every restriction. Nothing survives it, and no app on iOS can prevent its own deletion. The parent's Rules tab can block deleting apps on the child's device, which is Apple's device-wide setting and applies to every app on that phone.
• Restrictions can fail to start. If iOS declines to begin monitoring — low storage, permission changes, a system update — restrictions may not apply until the app is opened again.
• Activity counting is an estimate. Step and activity figures come from Apple's Health app and are approximate. If Health is wrong, Banked. is wrong in the same direction.

Banked. is a household tool, not a security product. It is not designed to stop a determined person from getting around it, and it should not be your only safeguard for anything that matters.

§ 08Activity and your health

Banked. encourages physical activity. It is not a medical device and gives no medical, fitness, or nutritional advice, and nothing in it has been reviewed by a health professional for any individual.

Parents set the targets, and parents are responsible for whether those targets are safe for their child. Set goals your child can meet without strain, and check with a doctor before starting if there's any injury, condition, or concern. Anyone should stop immediately if they feel pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath.

§ 09Acceptable use

Don't do these things with Banked.:

• Use it to monitor or restrict someone without the right to do so.
• Use it to punish, coerce, or isolate a child, or in any way that causes them harm.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its extensions.
• Interfere with the sync service, or pair to data that isn't yours.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or a subscription.

§ 10Ownership

Banked., its name, design, and code belong to Rayyan Anwar. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for as long as these terms are in effect.

What you put into the app — tiers, schedules, chore names, balances — is yours. If you send us feedback or a feature idea, we may use it without owing you anything for it.

§ 11Ending your use

You can stop at any time: unpair from the parent device, cancel the subscription in the App Store, and delete the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription; those are separate steps.

We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken, if the app is being used to harm someone, or if we stop offering Banked. altogether. If we shut the service down, we'll give notice in the app where we reasonably can, and unused paid time is handled through Apple.

§ 12Disclaimers

Banked. is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that restrictions will always be applied correctly or on time.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

§ 13Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Banked. — including screen time that was not blocked, minutes granted or withheld in error, or a device restriction that failed to apply.

Our total liability for any claim relating to Banked. is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

Apple is not responsible for Banked. or for any claim relating to it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them.

§ 14Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version and revision date at the top of this page always reflect the current text. For a material change we'll give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Banked. after that means you accept the new terms.

§ 15Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ventura County, California, and both sides consent to that venue.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
